Only Two More Weeks for Outlook

That's right, you've only got a couple more weekends to check out the new work by Marguerite Schaffron. I've been trying to get an image of some of her work up here on the blog, but blogger is having some tech glitches.
  • You can see work that was inspired by her recent trip to Mexico and some retreats she's had at a Buddhist monastery here in Northern California. The work includes photography, paintings and some mixed media work.
Please join her on 2nd Saturday from 6 to 9 pm at the gallery at 25th & R Streets behind the gray fence. One thing is for sure, you will not go away hungry. Marguerite is a very generous artist when it comes to receptions.

Cynstones at Gallery

New jewelry by Cynthia Burdick shares the stage with Marguerite Schaffron’s new photography and painting this weekend at the gallery inside HQ: Headquarters for the Arts, 1719 25th St., Sacramento (behind the gray fence at 25th & R Sts.) Burdick's designs use natural objects like freshwater pearls, natural stones, semi-precious gems, metals, lampwork handmade glass beads, infused glass and crystals. Each design is unique, no two necklaces or bracelets or earrings are ever alike.

Schaffron's work continues on display until August 17th. There is one more Saturday evening reception from 6 to 9 pm for this show on August 9th. Regular gallery hours are 1 to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays or by appointment.

A New Outlook

Trips to Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Marin County and Northern Mexico are the impetus for Marguerite Schaffron’s new photography and mixed media work in an exhibit called "Outlook" at Asylum Gallery inside HQ: Headquarters for the Arts, 1719 25th St., Sacramento (behind the gray fence at 25th & R Sts.) from June 28th to August 17th. There will be Saturday evening receptions from 6 to 9 pm for this show on July 12th and August 9th. Regular gallery hours will be 1 to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays or by appointment.

Schaffron has been showing her photographs, acrylic and mixed media paintings, ceramic pieces and winning awards since 1998 in the Sacramento region. It was in 2000 that she received an honorable mention in photography at the California State Fair. With a BA in studio art from UCD in 2001, Schaffron also taught in the university’s ArtsBridge program, which places artists in Yolo County schools. She was the featured photographer at the Yolo County Fair in 2002 and received the honor of being named photographer of the year.
